This captivating cycle ride will express a most courageous exhibition of Mental & Physical endurance, covering 1792km in 11 days, and travelling through 6 beautiful countries and 11 breathtaking cities. The tour starts on the 2nd of August, leaving from Dartford (London, England) and concludes in Rome (Italy) on the 12th of August. The journey embarks through Belgium, Luxembourg, France and Switzerland, consisting of many long, seemingly endless straight roads, winding country lanes, and steep climbs up the mountains of the Alps. It is expected that stages of this ride are likely to mirror the intensity of Le Tour De France, which would prove to be extremely physically and mentally challenging for even the most experienced cyclists.

You'll understand how intimidating and daunting this all seems, I am certainly looking forward to the challenge and the adventure that this journey will bring. The more awareness that this event generates and is given, the bigger and better it will become in the future.

UNICEF works for children's rights in over 150 countries around the world. Working with local communities and governments, they work to ensure that every child is given the opportunity to reach their full potential, as individuals and as members of their communities. Through long term and emergency healthcare and education programmes UNICEF offer care and protection for some of the world’s most vulnerable children.

The aim of this London to Rome Cycling event is to raise funding, sponsorship and ultimately raise the awareness of UNICEF and the nature of its cause. Hopefully over time the increased publicity that this event generates will draw in an increasing number of participants & competitors, and involve a great deal more charitable organisations in the future.

This expedition sets the scene for what will hopefully become an annual event, the expectation is that the route mapped will become more challenging over time and encourage the participation of an increased number of riders from every continent of the world. It is my dream that this ride could turn into the biggest amateur cycling event the world has ever seen.

This year, I alone, will be cycling from London to Rome to support and promote UNICEF's cause and this cycling event itself. I shall be training 7 days a week so that when it comes to the ride, I will be looking forward to the successful completion of the challenge in hand. I will be timing each stage of the ride to set a standard for the following year, which I hope will have a large group of riders making the cycling more competitive.

I am extremely keen in seeking support from companies and people who believe in the wonderful work that UNICEF do around the world, and from anyone with a vision that this cycling event will become globally competitive in the next 5 Years. Together we can make this a success and provide better lives for children around the world.
